St. John’s Church

St. John’s Church

Once a place of worship and now a community arts centre, St. John’s Church is a registered heritage property in Arichat, Nova Scotia. Through historical research and on-site assessments, INTRA Studio developed a phased strategy that prioritized high-risk areas while planning for gradual, community-supported implementation. Following years of deterioration and a change in use, the building required a tailored conservation approach. The team conducted historical research and a detailed assessment of envelope conditions (roofing, drainage, and structural elements) to inform a phased strategy that prioritizes high-risk issues. Conservation recommendations were designed to support gradual implementation, enabling new possibilities while maintaining the building’s historic character and material integrity.
